The Foundation Stone. Recently re-discovered, Jennie will be telling us the tale of the Belthorn and Yate Bank Independent Chapel School foundation stone, laid in 1876, lost after the demolition of the school and amazingly recently located and returned to the village in 2019. The Independent school closed when it merged with St. Michael’s in 1966 to form what is now Belthorn Academy Primary School. This will be a very interesting story of the laying of the stone and it’s rediscovery nearly 150 years later.
