Join us for a talk by Tony Foster entitled A Trip to Switzerland in 1916: A Little Known Aspect of WW1. The talk details a scheme organised by the British Red Cross Society and the Order of St John of Jerusalem in England to allow wives and mothers to visit British POWs who were interned in Switzerland. Nearly 600 women visited Switzerland between September 1916 and October 1917, including several from Lancashire. Tony has been involved in family and local history research for over 40 years and is a past Chairman and President of the Lancashire Family History & Heraldry Society. This fully illustrated talk about this remarkable story will be absolutely fascinating. Meet at the Dog Inn at 7pm. Membership of the History Society is £5 for 6 onths, or £2 per event.
